Interview

In these days, ELC held some interviews between instructors and students. The main topic of interviews is about the learning and the life in ELC. Each students had to attend the interview. And each interviews is about 10 minutes.

The interviews is individual. During the interviews, only the instructor and the interviewee was allowed to stay at the classroom. All the others were going outside. Students who didn’t have interview in that day is allowed to go home earlier. So in these days, I always arrived home before 2:30.

Noname

It’s a long time that I didn’t update my blog. The reason was I felt a bit tired. To write English everyday is not as easy as to write Chinese everyday. And I found the advantage of English writing was it can easily express the logic. That means, you can say something academic or argue some topic. That’s simple. But if you’d like to talk some feelings like in Chinese, that’s not that simple.

Chat with Friends

Today my homestay mother’s friends came to our house. Annette wanted the man to repair the swimming pool for her. After they finished, we chated outside.

They are very kind people. We talked about the Chinese food, Chinese words.

They were surprise when we said we made the decision of learning in Canada. The woman said she couldn’t let her daughter go out for a few days. She will be crazy.

Installed Ubuntu 7.10 Beta

Yesterday was a fantastic day, because I could run Ubuntu on my laptop. I had heard about Linux when I was in primary school. I tried to get one and use it, but always couldn’t achieve it. Sometime my parents didn’t buy it for me(the Internet was not that strong in that days), or sometimes I didn’t have a computer for my own use(if I installed Linux, others couldn’t use the computer), or most of the time my laptop didn’t support Linux.

Got a Praise

Today Garson and I did a presentation in the listening class. Our instructor Dennis let us to listen an interview and give a presentation about what have the interview said about. There were several topic of interview that we could choose, and Garson and I choosed one about “The Size of Eggs and Sperm”.

Actually, I myself didn’t pay so much attention on the presentation. But I found a good way. I kept listening it if I took my iPod with me. So I knew a lot about the interview. And another result was I remember all the parts of the interview well. I didn’t watch my notes much when I gave the presentation.

News

On last Friday, my speaking instructor Linda let us to take a piece of news essay on the newspaper and get the summary. I didn’t finish the work until this noon.

On the day befor yesterday, I asked my homestay mother Annette if there were any recently newspaper at home. She gave me a Sep, 22th one and said she could get a newer one on the next day. And this morning she gave me a newspaper of Sep, 25th.

Fieldtrip

Today all the students of English Language Centre has a field trip. We left school at 9:00am and we went there by schoolbus. The field was far from our school. We spent about 40 minutes to there.

The field we played is like a large playground. There were cart, baseball and golf. We could play both of them. There was also a little shop for selling drink and food. We could also sit there since it was much warmer in the shop than outside.

Speaking Presentation

This afternoon we had the second speaking presentation. This time was about interview. There were several topics we can choose and I choose the term “censorship”.

I have interviewed my homestay mother, Annette, but haven’t interview any other internetational students. Actually, I just interviewed myself as the second person. I didn’t prepare it very long. I just felt there was nothing to prepare.

One Month Celebration

A month ago, on Aug 23, 2007, I left China from Beijing Internetional Airport. And since the difference of timezone, we arrived at Winnipeg on Aug 23, 2007 again. From that time to now, I’ve spent a whole month here.

I, with my parents, drove to Beijing on Aug 22. We lived in Beijing Guangxi Hotel. A friend of my father received us. In the afternoon, I washed myself and had a rest. At night, father’s friend invited us to a restaurant for supper. I tried Maotai there.
